Mundo Yang is a political scientist. His research interests include citizen engagement, internet, media and the public sphere. Currently, he is finishing his Ph.D. thesis on discursive cultures in areas of political participation and works at the University of Bremen. Previously he has worked at the Social Science Research Center Berlin (WZB) and the University of Siegen.
From his point of view, there is no single best method to promote democratic participation. Instead, we need to better understand which forms of participation are most appropriate in which social contexts. In this regard, he is particularly interested in new channels of citizens participation such as deliberative minipublics and the potential of political engagement in the social web.
